Devon ATavistock firsts vBartonTAVISTOCK, after two narrow defeats, looked to bounce back against lowly Barton and hoped to cement their mid table position.

Losing the toss, Tavistock found themselves batting on a dampish wicket. Auchamp and Gray gave Tavistock a solid start, with the former reaching 23 and the latter 11. Barton bowled well and wickets continued to fall with only Billy Barriball appearing to enjoy batting on the surface; he compiled an excellent 63 with seven fours and with a couple of partnerships took the score to 147 before he was last man out.

The total seemed below par with Shergold 3-25, Bowker 3-23 and Crampton 2-12 doing the damage for Barton.

Tavistock knew they had to bowl well and led by Dylan Auchamp and James McGahey, they soon reduced Barton to 28-3. The experienced Needham and Parker took the score to 57 before Charlie Barriball  began a devastating display with the ball taking 5 for 26 as Barton slumped to 84 all out, giving Tavistock a win by 63 runs.

It was a super team effort by Tavistock with Auchamp 3-26 doing the early damage to the visitors.
