Tavistock firsts v Plympton firsts

TAVISTOCK entertained Plympton on Saturday with both teams starting the match sat in mid table.

The home side won the toss and put Plympton into bat and with a strong crosswind Tavistock’s opening bowlers Dylan Auchamp and James McGahey created havoc. After just four overs Plympton were 4 for 4 with Auchamp with three wickets leading the way and finishing with 3-19.

Plympton’s overseas player Wubberling helped take the score to 51 scoring 35 in the process before Charlie Barriball created a second wave of tumbling wickets taking 5-22 in 8 overs with Plympton collapsing to 82 all out.

Tavistock’s fielding was excellent throughout with James McGahey and Dave Manning taking excellent catches.

The home team began steadily but an unlucky run out when backing up saw Auchamp depart. Gray followed soon after and at 34-2 Tavistock had a ‘wobble’. However, Harry Gearing and Dave Manning firmly took back control and with the former making 30 not out and the latter a positive 35 not out the game was soon won.

This was another polished performance from the Tavistock side .
