CREWS from Cotehele Quay Gig Club took part in the
Salcombe Regatta last month in glorious weather.
The men’s A were sixth out of eight; the ladies’ A fifth out of eight; the men’s B fourth/13; ladies B eight/14; ladies’ C first/11; men’s C first/five; ladies’ veterans seventh/10 and second in the mixed.
At the Caradon Regatta in Saltash races were split into heats. Among the best of the Cotehele results the men’s B were fourth out of 13, the men’s A sixth out of 14 while the U16s were 12th — a great result as most of them are under 14 and it was the first time as a crew out racing together.
In the Falmouth sprints on June 18 the club had some terrific results.
The ladies’ A came third in their heat sending them straight through to the semi finals, missing out on a place in the finals by half a boat length. ladies’ B came sixth in the first heat, given a second chance in the repechage where they came third and earning a place in the semi finals.
Men’s A and men’s B went through to the repechage races.
Racing in the same heat a bit of inter-club rivalry finishing first and second earned both crews a place in the semi finals with men’s A narrowly missing out on a place in the finals.
The ladies’ veterans crew came in seventh in their class.
