IN the Tavistock snooker league third place Conservative A kept their hopes of a third title in a row alive with a superb win over second place Tavy A to 'leap – frog them and put them only one point behind leaders West Devon A.

First up in this top of the table clash was Lacey and Stewart with Tavy A captain Stewart never realy getting into the match. Against Tavy A's Woods Carruthers was in no mood to yield and ran out an easy winner. Ryall and Cook had a tight affair before Ryall potted a pink to claim a point for Tavy A.

Grylls for Tavy A did not have an answer for Watters who ran out an easy winner. Evans and Hicks was a nip and tuck affair coming down to last three colours with Hicks needing all three, Evans fluked a snooker on blue which Hicks failed to escape and the frame was gone along with all aspirations of Tavy A. Cons A now put themselves in the mix for honours with West Devon A,

Near end of the season jitters hit top of the table West Devon A as they beat Consevative Z 4 – 1 with a flattering score line. Heathman struggled to put Symons to bed but eventually put WD one up. Con Z's Dodd showed some of his better form to take out an inconsistent Emptage to bring his side evel. A spirited Cath Friend performance was not enough against unbeaten K Rich and that was how it remained, WD two up. Con Z's debutant Flack almost had a dream first game with his opponent Hawke having to pull of a 25 clearance to beat him. The final frame was another nervy affair with Hurford beating Con Z's McKechnie by a small margin to make it four for his team.

With news that Con A had taken out Tavy A 4 – 1, it looked like the Tavy challenge had ended and that last game of the season would decide if it was WD A or Con A to be champions with one point separating the two.
