CON A stretched their lead at the top of the table to three points with a testing encounter against West Devon D.

The signs of the job in hand were there from the first frame with West Devon's May testing Lacey to the limit. It was only at the late stages of the frame that Lacey potted the pink to secure the frame.

Back bounced West Devon with a timely 18 clearance from a resolute Murton to snatch Longden's 100% record from him. A further scare for the Cons was to follow as Evans also lost his 100% record to a lively display from Paul Shrimpton who potted all that was on offer to take his frame with relative comfort.

With West Devon now in front it was imperative that Babb could keep his recent form going and secure his frame for the Cons. This he did and in doing so accumulated a large points total.

In the deciding frame it was West Devon's Shoulders who got off to a flyer with a double figure break from the start. After this Carruthers for the Con's responded with a 22 and Shoulders was restricted to the odd red as Carruthers stretched his lead to take the frame and match for the Cons.

West Devon C looked to prove a point against Con B after last week's mauling at the hands of Con A. Things started brightly with Shrimpton (senior) tapping in on a hidden reservoir of potting skills, to take advantage of Con's Monk. The Cons bounced straight back with McKechnie ratcheting up a masterful 37 break.

Williams took Con's Skipper Evans (junior) down to the last colours before finally falling at the last hurdle.

West Devon's Elliott gave it his best shot but it was Con's Dent whose superior 'fire power' saw him comfortably home.

Pinkney shrugged off last week's defeat and hit some of his true form to see off the challenge of Con's Dolan with relative ease. Although losing 3-2, West Devon C indicated they are going in the right direction.
