THE Tavistock College Year 8 and 9 Athletics squad have recently competed in two high profile events the Plymouth and West Devon championships at Brickfields and the Super 8 Athletics held at Tavistock College. 

Both these events are competitive with athletes of the highest calibre.

Shaun Hulbert, from the PE faculty, said: The faculty are immensely proud of the whole squad not just in the way they performed, but also the exemplary conduct they showed respecting other athletes and what was most impressive was the students ability to support each other in every event.

The majority of the squad produced personal bests and there were some outstanding performances: Abbi Wilkinson qualified for both the 100m and 200m final; Jodie Stacey fifth in the 200m final, second in 800m heat; Tom Norgate, fifth in 1500m; Ethan Lamerton and Francesca Herdman, second in hurdles heats; Becky Banks second in shot put final; first in 800m heat; Ben Milligan second in triple jump; Jordan Lees, third in long jump and high jump; Joe Wilkinson, first in 400m final.
