THREE members of Tavistock Athletic Club were among the 48 finishers who ran the five and three-quarter mile trail run which formed part of the Peter Tavy Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Peter Bazley had competed in the Plymouth Half Marathon the previous day, but ran strongly to be first club member back and 18th overall, in 47minutes, 20 seconds. Claire and Adrian Pitcher ran together and finished in 57.24, Claire being third lady to finish this arduous race.

Just five days later, Pete was once again racing. This time he was the only TAC to take part in the Dartmoor Discovery 32-mile Ultra Marathon, which takes runners from the start in Princetown across to Ashburton and through Widecombe on the return journey. Pete completed this ultra challenge in 5hours, 23mintues, 54seconds, finishing third in his M55+ age category – a truly superb achievement!
