OKEHAMPTON and District Tennis Club is already benefiting from the 2012 legacy of Andy Murray's success at the Olympics.
Following the summer holiday the club's successful Saturday morning sessions for four to eleven year olds resumed on September 8 with the number of juniors more than doubled.
With the exception of school holidays and weather permitting the Saturday morning programme carries on throughout the year. From the beginning of November through to the following March Saturday sessions move indoors.
The club runs two sessions. From 10am to 11am for four to seven year olds and from 11am to noon for eight to eleven year olds.
In addition the club is looking to run a session for older children (11 to 16 year olds) one afternoon during the week.
These sessions will be a combination of coaching and playing. As the older juniors progress they are encouraged to join in with adult sessions to further improve their skills.

l During the summer Maria Cooper from Mole Avon presented £150 to the club to help buy new coaching equipment and junior tennis balls.
Club chairman David Carter has expressed his thanks to Maria and the support of Mole Avon. He said the club tried to keep charges to the juniors to the absolute minimum. Both junior coaches and other helpers give their time without charge. Support with the purchase of equipment and tennis balls also helps the club in providing a cost effective facility for the community.
