MEMBERS of the Tavistock branch of the Southern Shotokan Karate Association congratulated Joe Gallacher on achieving his first degree black belt. Joe and fellow members of the club Jowan Machin and Jack French, who are working towards their own black belts, and Laura Dennis who has achieved hers after training since the age of 10. The club is keen to attract new members of any grade and new members are welcome. The club meets at 5.45pm on Tuesday evenings in the basement hall of the United Reformed Church in Russell Street in Tavistock.
