Mannamead ladies 4
Okehampton ladies 2
The sun was out for Okehampton's last home game of the season. Mannamead were strong on attack and began the fast-paced match with a skillful goal.
The visitors responded by picking up their pace, blocking Mannamead strikers and passing well in the centre. Despite superb defence from Rachel Hammett, a penalty flick was awarded to Mannamead and they made it 2-0. Play was pretty even from then, with great play from Sarah Jones for Oke. The Plymouth side extended their lead just before half time.
In the second half Oke fought back with Louise Weller and Kim Bland in the middle taking the ball into home territory, where Anna Bury and Hannah Whitely fought hard to keep the ball. From a short corner Okehampton's Lesley Bingham swept in a superb goal from the right. Play became balanced, with short bursts up-field from Anna Cherrington, and Carol Taylor coming up from defence.
Both teams fought hard, with good Oke defence from Debbie Pritchard and Jane Jones, and their player of the match goalkeeper Shannon Osman. Mannamead scored again before Oke captain Lesley Bingham scored the final goal.
