GATHER your friends and get involved in a charity tug of war and family fun day next month.

Three students from the University of St Mark and St John, including Alice Upcott from Tavistock, have organised the gripping event as part of their degree course and chose to fundraise for HeartSWell South West as one of the students has a family member who has been affected by heart problems.

The tug of war tournament and fun day will take place at Tavistock Rugby Club on April 26, from noon until 4pm, and will see teams of six battling it out to be crowned tug of war champions.

The tournament will start at 1pm with a children's competition followed by the adults competition in the afternoon.

There will be many activities and stalls on offer throughout the afternoon, including a bouncy castle, tombola, face painting, food and drink stalls, barbecues, bake sales and a licensed bar.

All proceeds raised will go towards supporting heart patients in the South West. If anyone can help with any donations, visit the Just Giving page http://www.justgiving.com/Tug-of-War-Event">www.justgiving.com/Tug-of-War-Event

Entry fees for the tug of war are £30 per adult, £18 per student (16+) and children (under 16s) £12.
