TAVISTOCK’S boxing star Chantel Whiting travelled to Riverside Youth Project and Broadplain Boxing Club in Bristol on Saturday to compete in the quarter finals of of the National Championships.

By unanimous decision she defeated her opponent with ease. Chantel quickly found her feet in the first round and maintained her composure throughout and in an explosive final round, ended the bout, clearly the superior boxer. This victory also makes Chantel Western Counties Champion for the fourth year running.

Chantel is now straight back into her rigorous training regime in readiness for the concluding bouts in the championships which will be held in Rotherham this weekend. She will travel to South Yorkshire tomorrow with her coaches Grant Metters and Lee Whiting in readiness for a weekend packed with boxing and is hopeful she will return to Tavistock with the National Championships belt.

Chantel was cheered on by a crowd of supporters and thanks everyone who believed in her and travelled to watch her compete and to all of her sponsors and coaches who help make all of this possible.
