THE annual Two Castles Open Challenge got underway last weekend, comprising of a 36 hole Four Ball Better Ball competition — 18 holes played at Okehampton followed by 18 holes played at Launceston. The winners of the scratch were K Hancock and R Jasper (Launceston) with 78pts. The winners of the handicap were Phil Martin and Kevin Pedrick (Okehampton) with 80pts. Winners of the mixed were David and Sue Stanbury (Okehampton) with 76pts. Single sex winners were father and son Paul and Jonny Rattenbury (Okehampton) with 77pts on the back 18. Winners of the scratch 18 holes at Okehampton were R Metherall and A Crossland (Holsworthy) with 33pts. Winners of the handicap (18 holes) were Alan Jones and Ray Piper (Okehampton) with 42pts. Winners of the scratch 18 holes at Launceston were M Swift and B Wevill (Launceston) with 35pts and winners of the handicap were R Duke and A Bessell (Launceston) with 40pts on the back nine. • On Wednesday, June 25 the ladies of Okehampton Golf Club took part in a Bowmaker three Ball two to Count Qualifying competition. The winners with 88pts were Heather Skyrme, Michelle Abel and Anne Court. In second place with 79pts were Doris Jewell, Cherry James and Maureen Willcocks.
