POSTPONED because of recent bad weather Tavistock Golf 'Club's Captain's Drive -In' finally got underway!  This popular event attracted a large field and there was some superb scoring. 

Topping the winners list were George and Nicky Gawman with 48 pointss, second Lee Bartlett and Adam Bridgewater on 44pts and, in third place with 43pts, Max Clarke and Dominc Rehaag on countback from Tom Dodd and Barry Shipton.

In the men's medal Ian Nye had a nett 74 on countback from Chris Gawman.  In third place Rob Sleep had a nett 76 on countback from Rob Score.

Despite the bitter weather 27 ladies played for the Withington Bowl.  Carolyn Crawford scored an excellent nett 77 to win the trophy with Maggie Hillman runner-up with nett 81. 

The Warren Crocus was played in conjunction with the monthly Stableford and Maggie Hill was first in division one with 34pts; second Kayleigh Cann on 32pts on countback from Belinda McSherry and Shirley Trevenna.  First in division two was Sam Avens with 31pts, second Marian Stenhouse 30pts and Carolyn Crawford was third with 29 pts.  Joy Harrison had 30pts in division three with Val Jarman, Jenny Kay and Pat Wylie all on 27pts.

The junior section started their season with the adult /junior foursomes which was played in a strong and bitter wind.  First place went to Alan and Emma Greening with 33pts; second with 31pts were Graham and Arun Caines — both pairs qualify to play in the next round at Okehampton to be held later in the year. 

The division two adult/junior foursomes (28+ handicap) was won by Alan Gawman and Callum Boon with 36pts; second place going to Marc and Jamie Ninnis with 29pts. 

The 28+ handicappers braved the bitingly cold weather to play their Easter Stableford over nine holes.  It was won by Callum Boon with 16pts; second Jamie Ninnis 15 pts and third Tom White with 14pts. After beating Yelverton 4 and 1 in the first round of the Mail on Sunday Tavistock ladies secured their second win by beating Okehampton 3 and 2.
