BERE Alston Bowling Club Open Triples Tournament attracted an entry of 28 triples with play starting at 9.30am and the final finishing at 7.15pm.

The tournament’s popularity was shown by many of the triples already entering next year’s event.

The holders Keith Sargent, Julie and  Colin Fishleigh (Dunheved) again reached the final where they were beaten by Launceston club-mates Graham Davey, Avril and Frank Clifton.

Callington’s team — Rosalind Redfern, Allan Jones and Paul Smith — seemed certain to reach the final until the last wood of their last group match and had to settle for third place by beating Linda Sampson, Steve Murphy and Mark Williams (City Bus/Beacon Down) in the third-fourth play-off.
