BERE Alston Bowling Club celebrated the new season with a near 100 per cent turn out at its ’Opening Day Roll Up’ on Saturday.

Under blue skies and sunshine the players competed over seven rinks a perfect ’warm up’ for the opening competitive match at Kingsbridge the following day. Unfortunately Bere Alston needed a little more practice as they lost the match 123 - 104. This away match has been the regular season opener for more than 30 years. Captain Keith Whitting described the start to the new season as ’fabulous.’
