Duchy A 0
Okehampton A 1
OKEHAMPTON'S top scorer Luxton was Inavailable due to a training run incident so Lawson and Bourne started brightly upfront.
Although there was a lot of initial pressure from the home team, great tackling from Zac Middleton and John Jarvis saw their attacks come to nothing.
At the other end great movement off the ball from all the players saw Okehampton have sustained periods of pressure but were unable to convert any chances. John Hobbs and Jake Lloyd the centre midfield pairing were pinging balls wide, into the D and even the occasional mazey run but still a lack of penetration. Rob Yells created lots of space but was frustrated when Bourne skillfully rounded the keeper but wasted the shot instead of laying the ball off to the better placed Yells.
Jarvis Junior made some great runs down the right hand side and also did his defensive duties well by preventing Duchy clearing their lines. Bingham on the left made it difficult for Duchy to escape their half and made some sublime passes into Yells and Lawson.
In the second half Okehampton maintained their pressure with good play from Adam Cockayne slotting into central midfield. Tim Morgan had lots of space in the holding role and was able to play some great balls. Lawson saw a glaring opportunity go wide with a snapped reverse stick attempt.
Man of the match Hayden Bond made a superb debut performance at centre back, helping to protect keeper George Morgan who successfully kept a clean sheet.
Eventually the pressure and possession did result in a breakthrough when Lloyd unleashed a wicked shot which was saved by the impressive Duchy keeper, only for Bourne, to deftly flick the ball into the back of the net.
Duchy responded the better following the goal and a well organised defence with Bingham, Bond and Middleton prevented any meaningful shots on goal. Oke did turn the screw in the last 10 minutes with Lawson seeing two well struck shots saved.
