CLIMBER Alex Waterhouse's European season ended on a high note when he made the finals of the European Youth Bouldering Championships, held in Trentino, Italy at the beginning of September. The West Devon youngster qualified for the final in an impressive second place but in the final the 17 year-old finished in sixth place. He was pleased with a return to form against a high quality field. Alex, who trains at the Barn Climbing Centre in Milton Abbot, said: 'After finishing 38th in my first European Bouldering Cup just over two months ago, to make the final and finish sixth in Arco is an improvement I can only be happy with.' Alex now travels to New Caledonia for the World Youth Climbing Championships.
