TAKING part in the Edinburgh Marathon earlier this month were three runners from the Bere Peninsula.

Despite the heat, Ben Poole from Bere Ferrers, Laurence Sargeant from Weir Quay and Tom Sargeant also from Weir Quay, achieved great times in the Scottish marathon.

Ben achieved a personal best of 2 hours 58 minutes and 38 seconds, Laurence ran for the Bere Alston Trekkers and also achieved a personal best finishing 9th overall in his age group in 3 hours 24 minutes and 47 seconds.

This was Tom's first time running a marathon and completed it in 3 hours 14 minutes and 13 seconds.
