SYMONS, for the last few seasons a mainstay of the Conservative Z team, seemed to have lost his mojo in this current Tavistock Snooker League season with some shaky performances as of late. However, he, redeemed himself against Gilchrist for the West Devon B team.

In a barnstorming display Symons took command of the match and refused to relinquish his hold against a struggling Gilchrist with a 60-13 decisive win.

Hall, another gifted player for Con Z, has failed this season to recapture his form of previous years and as a result was comprehensively beaten by Roger Rich with a less than enthralling performance. Another player who has lost his command of the table this year, Jankowski, failed to contain Hoar for the West Devon, who was in sparkling form in an one sided but entertaining affair. 

Hodge (22) in his first season with Con Z determined to redress the balance and in a strong performance against Toland notched up a creditable 67 to take the frame and draw his team level. 

Conservative Z’s ‘on form’ player this year, Mayors, took his game to a new level and performed prodigiously against Blewitt, who struggled against Mayor’s steady skilful potting skills and safety play giving his team the vital win. Despite some dubious performances so far this season, Conservative Z, with this 3-2 win, have managed to stay away from the lower half of the league and would hope for more convincing results in the second half of the season.

Tavy A turned out another strong performance with a resounding 5-0 win over West Devon D, this despite missing their ‘main man’ Monk. Tavy’s Anderson (senior) with a tasty 31 break made short work of Ward, although team mate Hicks was made to work for his win over Murton.

A game of the potters Anderson (junior) and Shrimpton (junior) turned out to be a surprisingly low scoring and close frame, eventually claimed by Anderson. Evans with a 28 break was too hot for West Devon’s Decieco as was Dent, who brought last week’s big break man Pinkney down to earth with a bump.

Tavy A go into the festive recess as league leaders and plainly the team everyone has to try and catch in 2017.
