TAVISTOCK went on the attack straight from the kick-off and after a series of drives from the forwards, centre Richard Coker ran in the first try after three minutes.
The Tavistock forwards continued to dominate the opening exchanges and flanker Joe Pook and Coker soon scored two more tries and with Credicott adding 2 conversions, Tavistock were 19-0 up after 15 minutes.
The visitors failed to control the restart after the third try and Cullompton took advantage to drive deep into the Tavistock half. The attack ending with a home forward scoring a converted try.
With both sides making numerous handling errors in the wet conditions, their was no further scoring until the last few minutes of the half, when Coker scored his third and fourth tries on the end of some good running moves from the Tavistock backs and the Cullompton pack mauled their way over the try line with the last move of the half. The conversion was added, to leave the score at 29-14 to Tavistock at the interval.
An opportunist try from Tavistock scrumhalf Craig Pascoe immediately after the restart was soon followed by fullback Rob Hockin running in another score from the halfway line.
Tavistock continued to do most of the attacking, but the home side defended well and only conceded one more score when wing Martin Shoulders followed up an astute kick ahead from Liam Mills to score his first ever try for Tavistock.
Cullompton had the last word when their pack drove over for a third converted try in the last minute for the final score.
Richard Coker took the player of the match honours for Tavistock with his four tries.
The threequarters were well organised by flyhalf Rob Milligan. Marc Kerswill; Liam Mills and Jack Lewis were prominent among the pack.
