IN division one of the Okehampton and District Table Tennis League, Tavistock 'go marching' after their latest 9-1 win over The Mixtures.

There were maximums for Roger Bowkett and Peter Hicks. Chloe Greenaway saved the whitewash when she beat Keith Morris in four legs.

Second placed Okehampton A played Milton Abbot.

Naomie Jackson and John Down both scored maximums and raced into a 5-0 lead before Tim Westcott beat John Squire 3-0. Ottila Pochat won the second against John, Naomie and John Squire won the doubles against Ottila and Tim for an 8-2 win for Okehampton.

This kept them in second place in the league 15 points behind the leaders with two games in hand.

Academy were at home to Milton Abbot. Academy raced into a 3-0 lead.

Ottila Pochat won the next against Ben Hill for 3-1. Tom Pearce won his second game beating Ian Osborne for 4-1.

Then Milton Abbot stepped up a gear winning the next four singles and the doubles for their second win of the season 6-4.

Tim Westcott won his next two singles in the fifth leg firstly against Tom Pengelly and then did well to beat Tom Pearce 3-2 in his last singles. Ottila also beat Tim Pengelly in straight sets.

Milton Abbot won the doubles for a convincing 6-4 win.

The only division two result came from Anchorage B who were at home to Okehampton C in a hard fought match. The result was the same as the first half — a 5-5 draw.

In the first singles Martin Rose fought hard to beat David Wilson 3-2 to put Okehampton 1-0 ahead. Roger Gilbert won the next against Martin Rose to level at 2-2. David Wilson did well in the next beating Frank Cockburn 3-2; Jenny Gilbert put Anchorage 4-2 ahead beating Ben in straight sets.

Frank pulled one back for Okehampton and Martin had to fight hard against Jenny who just lost out 3-2 to level at 4-4. David beat Ben to lead 5-4.

Frank and Martin just beat David and Jenny in the doubles 3-2 for a hard fought 5-5 draw.
