TAVISTOCK'S Alice Rogers is Pentathlon GB National Youth Champion in her age group.

At the recent championships in Solihull, she won the event with 4,790 points, some two hundred ahead of the second-placed competitor.

Alice has trained with Tavistock Athletic Club for the past four years, with junior coach Carrie Lawson and more recently with the club's Coe group and it was her winning performance in the combined event of running and shooting which secured her the championship.

Alice, who has just sat her A levels at Callington College, spends up to 18 hours a week in training - swimming, fencing and riding on a very regular basis in addition to running and shooting.

Sheila Houghton, on behalf of the club, said: 'TAC is proud of her achievement and wishes her well as she continues her training.'
