A BRAVE team of charity supporters threw themselves down a zip wire suspended above deep water to raise money for Children's Hospice South West.

The ten members of the Friends of the Yelverton Branch of CHSW Support Group managed to raise £1,652 for the charity's Precious Lives Appeal by flying down the wire at the Adrenalin Quarry in Menheniot.

Sheila Glanville of the Friends group and organiser of the event, said: 'We always try to do something a bit daring — last year we did a sky dive. It is supposed to be the biggest zip wire in the UK, and I'm scared of heights so it was more scary than the skydive for me.

'We are more than pleased with the amount we raised. It was a really good afternoon — three of them even went back and did it again!'
