MORE than 30 riders got their first introduction to Endurance Riding, at a special day organised by the South West Group of Endurance Great Britain in Bridestowe. The Introductory Day was organised by experienced endurance rider and organiser of the Brentor Ride on Dartmoor, Janet Lander, and was held at the Methodist Hall in Bridestowe and at Little Bidlake Farm. Riders enjoyed an introduction and talk about the sort of rides available for people who are interested in taking up endurance and were then divided into two groups for more intensive instruction. They were shown how to take their horse's pulse and find out what their usual resting heart rate should be and what to expect after exercise. The group also learnt about essential map reading, fitness training for their horses and the different types of tack used by endurance riders.
