A YOUNG boy was knocked off his bicycle when cycling with his family in Tavistock last week.

A family group of cyclists from Plymouth was cycling down Whitchurch Road at around 1.35pm last Thursday. A car waiting at the Pixon Lane junction let the main group of cyclists go by but police said the driver appeared to have not noticed that a ten-year-old boy had fallen behind and was pedalling hard to catch the group up.

The car emerged from the junction into the path of the boy who was thrown into the air.

He suffered a puncture wound to his leg from the handlebar, but fortunately no life-changing injuries.

Police said a 20-year-old man was reported for driving without due care and attention.
