THREE promising local artists are putting together an exhibition of their work in Gidleigh Village Hall at the end of the month, before they head off to art college in the autumn. Joseph Van der Steen, Zoé Collins and Alex Goodman all completed their A-levels at Okehampton College this summer and are now preparing for art college. The exhibition will also feature work by two Chagford artists, Joseph?s younger brother James, and Lillian Todd-Jones. Joseph described his work as ?abstract in my own way? while he said his brother was ?quite expressive?. He said some of the other artists? works were focussing on environmental concerns and used plastic materials to create sculpture. Some of the artists have exhibited in smaller shows before but are looking forward to bringing their work together for this latest exhibition. The exhibition is open on August 30 and September 1, from 10am-5pm. The exhibition is being opened by Chagford artist Alan Lee.
