A FORMER Okehampton College pupil has gained second prize in a national writing competition.
The competition organised by charity Adfam, which helps families and friends of young drug users, asked people to write about some of the problems and issues surrounding drug addiction.
Matthew Ware, now works in London for an international courier company but his parents live at Lydford.
Matthew won £50 worth of book vouchers and had his piece published in The Guardian last week as part of his prize.
The judges for the competition were Harry Shapiro, writer and communications director of charity Drugscope; Helen Rayner, winner of last year's competition and editors Lyndsey Nicholson and David Brindle.
