WEST Devon music group the Wren Trust have hit the right note with a lottery grant to buy new digital sound and recording equipment.
The Awards for All grant of £4,550 for the new equipment will allow the group to expand the workshops they currently offer.
Arts assistant Paul Tucker said the money would be used to buy a video camera, a laptop computer and sound cards, which would allow the trust to expand the video projects in which it was currently involved.
The state of the art technology will allow people to work on video diary projects and create their own soundtracks.
Mr Tucker said one of the benefits of the technology was that it was portable: 'We are looking at doing a video diary with some youngsters in Plymouth, filming the environment in which they live.'
Mr Tucker said the equipment would also widen the style of musical projects the trust was able to support.
'The trust is based in traditional music, but this will enable us to bring in computer music if people want to do that,' he said.
Mr Tucker said the trust had been very pleased to receive the letter from Awards for All stating there had been stiff competition but their application had been successful.
Two popular Wren music events take place in the next two weeks. This Saturday, September 27, at the Octagon Theatre, Okehampton, sees the return of Wren Music Night.
While on Saturday, October 4, a workshop followed by an evening concert featuring the tunes of Dartmoor fiddler William Andrew is being held at Clearbrook Village Hall.
