Truro C 1 Tavistock B 3 TAVISTOCK B men?s hockey team played Truro for the last time this season, looking for a win after having lost the home game when they met in November. Tavistock started with a positive attitude and with Holland returning to the forward line, he was able to outpace the Truro defence. This gave Tavistock the extra width they missed the previous week. Glanville,Wills and Roberts all played well in defence and young Matthews playing in goal had little to do in the first half. Possession seemed to be going all Tavistock?s way and the reward came with a well taken goal by Wood. Truro had been rattled by Tavistock and had been too complacent which in the end would be their downfall. At the break Cooley kept the same attacking formation and wanted to go back to Tavistock with the three points. With only the bare eleven Tavistock needed to keep the high work rate going for the second half. This was evident as the pressure was put on the Truro defenders. Tavistock?s second goal was scored by a deflection from Wood after Mackintosh?s shot was goalbound. Truro scored a goal which had been hit across Tavistock?s D for a pass only to find its way into the back of the goal. This was against the run of play, as Truro had struggled to get past the midfield of Young and George. As time ran out, Tavistock still attacked and Holland had a good strike on goal, only for the keeper to save and push the ball sideways for Wood to just tap it across the line for his hat-trick. This was a well deserved win for Tavistock and they will be looking for another victory this Saturday as they play Plymouth PGSOB ?s, one place above them.
