A SPLENDID cheque for £741.61 boosted the new Okehampton Hospital Appeal recently, after staff at a Bridestowe residential home undertook a 12-mile fancy dress sponsored walk.

The team from Springfield Residential Home dressed up as witches and devils to undertake the walk, just after Hallow'een last November.

The walkers tramped the West Devon Drive between Sourton and Lifton to raise the money, which was presented to Okehampton's Dr Paul Nielson.

The walkers included Val and Sarah Walter, Angela and Alice Griffiths, Karen Crawford, Jayne Hawkins, Jeny Plumridge, Pam and Louise Hardy, Yvonne Turpin, Pauline Luckhurst, Miriam Rattenbury and Hollie Upham.
