WHITCHURCH and Sampford Spiney held their annual sheepdog trial and dog show with stalls and refreshments at Plaisterdown.

The event was held by kind permission of Mr and Mrs M Doidge. The trials judge was Brian Duke of Simonsbath.

Trial secretary Wendy Watson said the event was a successful day even though being cold and wet to begin with.

n Wendy's daughter Rachael Watson has  just returned from competing in South Africa in the British Junior Tentpegging Association international  with three silver medals and a bronze.

Rachael is a member of the Spooners and West Dartmoor pony club — tentpegging is a military type of games on horseback.
