A TOTAL of £959 has been raised for two good causes after a bottle auction was held in Horrabridge. The auction was organised by the Horrabridge Cavaliers, a group which holds events to raise money for good causes or individuals. The auction saw around 70 people bid for all sorts of bottles, including wine, spirits and even jars of chutney. In the three years the charity has been running this event more than £2,500 has been raised for many village charities. John Howells, secretary of the Cavaliers, said: 'It beat, by £100, what we raised last year. It is amazing really, to auction bottles and raise that amount. 'People donate many bottles, from expensive champagne to bottles of sauce.' The money raised from this event went to Marie Curie and St Luke's Hospice.
