WITH reference to the article in last week's issue over a parking penalty, it seems to me that there needs to be an overhaul of the whole process.

We received a fixed penalty notice last year whilst displaying a valid ticket in the windscreen and on appeal (enclosing our valid ticket) we too were told that our car had been carefully inspected etc.

We appealed a second time and also wrote to our local councillors. Eventually the fine was waived but the whole system seems very unsatisfactory — the motorist versus the car park inspector — and it appears that the latter is always right.

It occurs to me that the only grounds for an appeal to succeed would be death, accident or injury whilst your car was parked, and then only if backed up by a death certificate or doctor's note as appropriate!
