DESPITE an earlier downpour, spirits were not dampened at the annual Weaver Cup Cross Country event held at Ford Farm.

Once again Lt Col Clark and Helen Clark worked tremendously hard to set up the course, make sure it was safe and at the end of the day it was a fantastic event.

Seven teams, each with 12 runners, entered the competition representing Chagford, Hatherleigh, Okehampton and South Tawton primary schools.

As usual it was a tough course both down and up hill, through streams and across fields but every runner was determined to finish the course.

As a team event every runner's place counts towards the final score. The first three boys across the line were from Chagford Primary with the fastest girl coming in for Okehampton Primary.

South Tawton saw two of their runners coming in as second and third fastest girls.

In third place was Chagford 'A', Okehampton 'A' came second with South Tawton A the overall team winners.
