Blustery weather conditions meant that it was not going to be a night for fast times. Sean Quigly, who is starting to see results from his high mileage training programme, was the first Okehampton rider home with a time of 24.21. He was followed by Simon Perrett 25.28 and Mike Rice 26.21. Tony Jonston with a time of 26.39 was rewarded by taking the prize for the fastest rider in the over 60 category.
The cycle club?s summer time trial series also continued last Thursday evening from Bridestowe to Lewdown and back on the old A30 road.
Alan Thorne, debuting his brand new road bike, took a full six minutes off his previous time, to clock 30.43 and beat Jon Short, 30.45 by a mere two seconds. Full results: A Thorne, 30.43; J Short 30.45; D Baskerville 33.23; A Chambers 36.11.
