POLICE are asking retailers to be aware after £180 of counterfeit currency was used at a shop in Yelverton on January 12. In this particular incident the person was using the topping up system at the pay point station. Tavistock PC Colin Taylor said: 'We get this from time to time when a new batch of counterfeit notes has been produced,' he said. 'I would urge retailers to check notes and do not be embarassed to do this in front of customers. 'If a retailer is suspicious of a note and the person using it is not prepared to give details I would urge them to ring the police immediately.'
