They started as they meant to go on and scored in the first minute when Doyle latched on to a Hammond pass and blasted in his first goal. There was some end to end football played when Court almost made it two and Manstow had a ball cleared off the line by Johnson. Manstow finally did equalise but Doyle put in his second goal just before half time to make it 2-1. Tavistock were slow to start the second half and the ball was cleared off the line again, this time by Derbyshire, but soon they took charge and Bray put in number three when a deflection put the keeper the wrong way. Court then had a great run down the right wing, took the ball into the six yard box and scored Tavistock?s fourth goal. The game was totally one sided now and everyone was trying to score but it was Bray who took the ball down the middle of the park, beat two defenders and slotted in number five. Tavistock then lost a little concentration at the back and just before full time the opposition pulled one back. Tavistock started to fight back and the main battle was in midfield. Tavistock were awarded a free kick in the S B half which McCall put on to Court?s head but the goalkeeper managed to put it out for a corner. There was another chance when McCall brought the ball out of defence, passed to Bray who forwarded it to Doyle but the resulting shot was just wide. S B then came back into the game, scoring when Webber slipped whilst taking a goal kick. The weather conditions were taking their toll on both sides by now and much slipping and sliding was happening. S B scored their third very much against the run of play and Tavistock must have wondered if they were ever going to be rewarded for their good football. Finally, through another McCall free kick, which this time was received by Bray, the ball was headed in to make the half time score S B Frankfort 3 Tavistock 1. Webber made a great save from an S B free kick and again Tavistock were attacking but the opposing defence line stood very firm.
