THE breathtaking international production Elephant comes to Hall for Cornwall this March. A show for all ages, beautifully combining storytelling, live music, dance, puppetry, song and comedy – this latest visual feast from Dodgy Clutch Theatre comprises 15 performers, seven from South Africa and eight from the UK, body puppets, 'Kabuki reveal' effects, brilliant acting and wonderful songs. Elephant celebrates ubuntu (humanity) while exploring the themes of corruption, forgiveness and redemption. The story introduces serious themes in a fast moving series of scenes, which are sometimes upbeat and funny, and at other times beautiful and moving. Blending traditional and contemporary music and featuring a live band and dance styles from both African and Western cultures, Elephant has evolved from a two-year collaboration across two continents. Devised and rehearsed in both the North East of England and South Africa, preview performances in both countries have been received with enormous enthusiasm and acclaim. The show is at the Hall for Cornwall from Tuesday, March 4 to March 8. Box office 01872 262 466.
