Tavistock Ladies 1st XI 4 Essanians 4 THIS was an interesting match as the opposition are in a league higher than Tavistock. Tavistock made some dominant attacks early on with Fiona Dunn, Laura Stapleton and Zoe Viggers working hard in defence to keep the opposition from being a threat. The first goal came from Judy Miller scoring for Tavistock with an excellent shot from a rebound. The opposition fought back hard and despite Julia Firth and Lisa Butler working hard through the midfield the ball slipped through and the defence were outnumbered. It was not long before Tavistock took the lead again with a good goal from Laura Armstrong. With Bex Creasy back in goal it was a while before the opposition scored equalising the score at 2-2. Dunn changed positions with Butler and had a run up through right midfield. This allowed Dunn to work with Honey and feed her the ball. Honey scored a cracking goal which the keeper had little chance of saving. This really boosted the team. The score again went in Tavistock?s favour with Armstrong scoring the fourth goal for Tavistock. However an early break from Essanians allowed them to pull back two quick successive goals levelling the score line at 4- 4. This week Tavistock play their first league match of the season against Paington 2nd XI at Kelly College astro at 11am.
