Tavistock Colts 12 Wiveliscombe Colts 24 TAVISTOCK fielded a strong squad of 19 players but the visitors never really let them take control of the game. Dave Vince crashed over from close range to give Tavistock their first try but Wiveliscombe replied with three of their own for a half time score of 19-5. The second half belonged to Tavistock but both sides could only manage a further try each, with Dan Smith touching down after a series of Tavistock phases. The Tavistock threes made several good breaks but poor handling prevented then turning the attacks into points. New face Dan Budge looked a good prospect in the second row showing great hunger for the ball. Ben Shutt at prop was involved in everything in the first half until a hand injury saw him substituted. Hooker Branfield and second row Lawson combined well to give good ball off the top of the lineout, whilst Tim Child scrummaged and tackled well. Man-of-the-match went to flanker Friend after heading the tackle count, turning over the opposition?s ball many times the tackle and supporting virtually all moves. Tom Vanstone converted one try.
