Bedford Cup Final

Launceston 0

Callington Town 2

DUCHY Premier League side Callington Town were full of confidence coming into this final against a strong South Western League side in Launceston.

Launceston started the quickest and in the opening 20 minutes looked the most likely to score. But sound defending kept them at bay.

Callington started to dominate and created good chances. Launceston's back line were finding it difficult to live with the pace of Truscott, who got in behind them on several occasions.

On 35 minutes he found himself through again following a pass from Pocknell. His cross was inch-perfect for Wooley to smack in from six yards.

Pote was unlucky minutes later as his shot was cleared off the line, but Callington went into the break on top.

The second half started in the same manner with both sides creating chances. Launceston pushed players forward and looked dangerous, but again the pace of Truscott and Blatchford proved too much to handle.

Blatchford raced down the right and his pass was met by Truscott whose first-time shot from 14 yards gave the keeper no chances.

With 15 minutes to play they could have gone on to win by more as Blatchford and Pocknell had good chances.

Man of the match: Scott Fisher; young player award: Lee Blatchford.
