THE music section of the Tavistock Oxfam Bookshop is expanding and from late February will be selling vinyl records.
The selling of vinyl will add to the already successful section selling CDs and sheet music and it is hoped it will make a significant further contribution to the funds raised for Oxfam in Tavistock.
The shop is currently building up stock of vinyl and is accepting donations of vinyl at all times. The team is happy to take donations of LPs, singles and 78s of any genre and any era.
All will be sorted carefully, cleaned and prepared for sale.
Donations can be taken straight to the back door in North Street if this helps as records are heavy to carry.
Shop manager Val Sharpe said: 'This is really exciting for 2015.
'Selling vinyl will really add to the shop — the music section has already settled well so the next logical step is to introduce a good vinyl records section and expand it.
'We have already flushed out a few vinyl fans among the existing volunteer team and we really want this to be a success.
'Vinyl records as a music medium seem to be making a comeback and there are many collectors out there, so hopefully we can offer them something interesting.'
If you have an interest in vinyl records and are interested in joining the bookshop team to manage this new venture, then feel free to contact the shop.
A 'vinyl team' is already developing.
Anyone interested in carrying out research to help the sorting and pricing of vinyl is encouraged to get in touch.
If you have a minimum of two hours a week and would like to contribute your interest and/or your knowledge, then contact Val at the Oxfam shop on 01822 613901.
