ORGANISERS were pleased with the number of visitors that turned out for Lamerton's annual Duck Race and Fun Run.

Tavistock's multi-marathon man Adam Holland saw the runners off for the new fun run, welcomed them over the finish line on their return and presented the prizes and certificates.

The open race of 5.25km to Chaddlehanger and back was won by Jim Cole, and the junior race of 1km within the village was won by Charlie Elkington.

Adam also started off the Duck Race by tipping in the first 100 ducks — followed by another 750.

Village hall chairman William Dawe said: 'I am very grateful for Adam's willing help in enabling the event to raise a record £1,500 towards developing the village hall's facilities.'
