BE Still, a short monthly service of themed prayers, reflections and readings will be held in St Andrew's Church in Sampford Courtenay today (Thursday) at 10am.

There will be a family service at St Andrew's on Sunday, March 2, at 9.30am, to be led by the lay worship team. The theme will be Samson and Delilah and refreshments will be available afterwards and on Ash Wednesday (March 5) a service of holy communion will be held at St Andrew's at 7.30pm.

The next whist drive in the village hall is on Monday, March 3 at 7pm for 7.30pm.

The Women's World Day of Prayer will be celebrated at Lakeway United Church, North Tawton on Friday, March 7 at 3pm. Anyone is welcome, including men, to join with thousands of Christians uniting around the world in prayer. The speaker will be Sandra Collier from Hatherleigh.

After many years of faithful witness, it has been decided that the Methodist chapel at Sampford Courtenay will go through the process of closure. The work in the village has been maintained over the years and the members there want to celebrate that work at a service in March which coincides with the chapel anniversary.

This will take the form of a circuit service, which the members of the chapel will arrange, to be held on Sunday, March 9 at 3pm, followed by a tea. Circuit members and friends are invited to look back over the story of the chapel and celebrate the people who have shared within the fellowship over the years.

Sampford Courtenay Flower Club will meet in the Church Rooms on Monday, March 10 at 7.30pm.

Julia Horscroft and Jenny Walters will demonstrate 'Fun with Flowers'. There will be an evening of song and laughter with Jerri and Chloe Hart in the Village Hall on Friday, March 14 at 7.30pm. Tickets at £7.50 are available by phoning 01837 851659.

Sampford Courtenay bellringers' coffee morning will be held in the Church Rooms on Saturday, March 15 from 10am until noon. Stalls include cakes, books, produce, stationery and a raffle.
