Sergeant Richard Nettleship said five cars were attacked in various locations around the village, on driveways and inside garages.
On several occasions, car windows had been smashed.
Items stolen included stereos and CDs.
Sgt Nettleship said: ?The message is to make sure your car and garage is securely locked up and anything suspicious should be reported to the police straight away.?
Sgt Nettleship said it was possible the crimes had been committed by ?travelling villains?, but residents should still be on their guard and make sure their property is secure.
In addition, a stone barn in Warne Lane was attacked.
Sgt Nettleship said the barn padlock was forced and the thieves stole garden and power tools.
Sgt Nettleship said: ?Residents should make sure they have the serial numbers for tools which have been stolen to aid their recovery.?
He said police at present are treating the car thefts and barn theft as linked crimes and appealed to anyone with information to contact Tavistock Police as soon as possible.
