VALENTINE'S day will bring a smile to the face of local volunteers when the Okehampton and District Council for Voluntary Service and Volunteer Bureau receive a bumper cheque from the EX20 Lottery.
The organisation will receive 40 per cent of the takings for the bonus draw on Valentine's Day.
Any local charities and community organisations are invited to make an appeal for funds from the lottery's bonus draws which are held on special days throughout the year.
Manager of the Okehampton and District CVS Carmel Fanconi said the money was very much appreciated and would be used to recruit more volunteers, specifically retired people and new residents to the area.
'We are also very grateful to the Town Council for a grant of £100 which will be used to recruit more people during Volunteers Week in June,' she said.
