THE West Devon-based leader of the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) this week denied that using Polish construction workers at his Coryton home compromised his party?s anti-EU policies. Following a report in the Sunday Times which claimed the workers had been brought into the UK via his son?s company, Roger Knapman, who is also a South West MEP, said using the foreign workers was not contradictory to UKIP?s beliefs. Mr Knapman, a former Tory MP, said: ?These people do not wish to have British citizenship. They are not immigrants. ?They have come here to do some work and they will go back to Poland. That is perfectly in accordance with UKIP policy.? Mr Knapman added he was also using local tradesmen on the building project and that all the workers got on well. UKIP?s policy is that Britain should leave the EU, but continue to trade with EU countries and forge links with non-EU countries.
