THE second visit of the season to Ivybridge coincided with more atrocious conditions which really tested the mettle of players and spectators alike. Tavistock entered two teams with all 18 players giving their best. All games were tight with highlight for A team coming in a well deserved victory over Paignton in a high scoring match. George Carter, Harry Snowden, Marcus Hoddinott and Dominic Hosking were among the scorers and Zak Brinkhurst, Tom Jackman and Nick Jory made good breaks which led to touch downs. Tight defence was vital in the drawn matches with St Austell, Kingsbridge and Sidmouth with the Dobie brothers (Mathew and Daniel) to the fore and the only reverse coming in the match against Plymstock by the odd score. Tavistock?s other side performed just as well with a tremendous victory over Kingsbridge following gutsy displays against Barnstaple and Plymstock. Charlie Carter drove the team on with tremendous support from James Perring ? who notched two great tries, and Nick Piper who also crossed the line. In wet and windy conditions Ben Steel and Imogen Muir never wavered in defence. With Alex Ferguson and Kris Chapman running strongly and Barney Megicks and David Northey snapping at the attackers? heels, Tavistock did themselves proud. Thanks and congratulations were expressed to all players and supporters for their hard work and commitment this season. The club presentation day is on Sunday, May 15 at midday.
