IDEAL weather greeted the 29 starters in Tavistock Wheelers? Easter Sunday Sporting 25 on the S5. The hilly course took the riders up over Black Down on the edge of Dartmoor towards Okehampton and back into Tavistock.

Last years? runner-up Alex Fitzgerald (Bikinmotion CC) had opened up an eight second gap on last year?s winner and course record holder Chris Murphy (St Austell CC) by the turn.

Not to be beaten, Murphy came storming back on the return leg to clinch victory in a new course record time of 59.01.

Fitzgerald became only the second rider to go under the hour on this course with a excellent time of 59.59, 42 seconds ahead of third placed Julius Jennings (CS Dynamo).

Best Tavistock rider was Mark Canvin, who was also the most improved from last year, lowering his time to 1.04.59.
